Sassy mumma May.

Agents of SHIELD has got Asian mothers down pat.

"I met my wife at a Star Trek convention. She was study abroad from France and spoke little English, and I didn’t know a lick of French. So, for the first few months of our relationship, we communicated by speaking Klingon."

Okay I’m not even a Star Trek fan but that’s beautiful.

Gail Simone herself tweeted that Osric is her Ryan Choi (The Atom) so I had to. HAD TO.

Osric posted that he had read the All-New Atom and fallen in love with the character, before he knew me or we had ever spoken. He said there was finally an Asian superhero he could relate to. This was on Twitter, a while back.

I was not familiar with his work at the time but I couldn’t get over how much he looks and talks like Ryan. He’s just the handsomest guy ever, and has this huge, kind smile and generosity of spirit. He’s completely adorable, and he IMMEDIATELY became Ryan to me. Every time I see him, I think, man, that’s Ryan!

Finally, he was a guest at Emerald City Comicon and he kept coming by my table to meet me and finally I was there and he is TEN TIMES MORE ADORABLE THAN I THOUGHT. Dang!

He was incredibly sweet and nice, I just love the guy.

I am catching up on Supernatural, too!

Anyway, I think he should be in a comic, don’t you?  Keep watching. :)

Also, I LOVE THIS ART.

little mermaid retelling

ursula is an outcast because ew tentacles (she can’t help it she was born that way) and also because she’s fallen in love with someone from the surface even though she’s never actually spent that much time with him.  she hides out in a cave and does spellwork to get by while gathering ingredients for a big spell.

ariel is an adventuring explorer who wants legs to explore the surface world.  she goes to ursula and asks for legs.  for payment ursula asks for special kind of seaweed that ariel can obtain through her adventuring.  ariel gets it for her and it turns out it’s one of the ingredients to the spell.  but also to get something you have to sacrifice something that’s just how the spell works.  ariel’s greatest pride and vanity is her hair but she’s not ready to make that sacrifice so she offers up her voice.  but because she doesn’t value it as much as her hair the spell goes a little wrong and she has to kiss a human who loves her to fix it and solidify her human form.

ariel goes for prince eric cause she’s seen him around and likes him and he was also just there.  but oh no that’s the dude ursula fancies!  meanwhile there’s enough of the special seaweed left for ursula to do the spell again.  turns out this was the big spell she was collecting ingredients for and the seaweed was the last ingredient she needed to turn herself into a human so she can be with eric.  but she also has to give up something.  she’s like ‘okay’ but she doesn’t realise until it’s too late that the something is her love for eric (just go with me on this).

so she’s human and she intellectually knows she loved eric though not anymore but she goes through with seducing him anyway cause she’s like maybe the emotions will come back and she loved him once so she knows she can love him again.  meanwhile ariel is trying to seduce him as well so she can kiss him and stay human.  eric’s like ‘i used to have no lady and now i have two lady i don’t know what to do i am not equipped for this grimes help me.’

AND THEN ARIEL AND URSULA FALL IN LOVE AND KISS WHICH SOLIDIFIES ARIEL’S FORM

ARIEL’S STILL MUTE AND THEY USE MER-SIGN WHICH IS A COMMON PART OF MER-CULTURE BECAUSE SOUND DOESN’T TRAVEL 100% GREAT IN WATER

THEY’RE IN LOVE AND SINCE THEY’RE FRIENDS WITH THE PRINCE HE DOES SOME LAW REFORM AND THEY GET MARRIED AND TRAVEL THE WORLD

Elle Woods was hollering back before the movement. This is why i love this movie. It’s so progressive. Elle is a femme feminist who comes by it the hard way. She doesn’t change for the bookish people, the elitists, or for the feminists. She just does what she needs to do, and what she wants, even when at first it was chasing a boy. Then the movie drops the romance. IT DROPS THE ROMANCE. chick flicks don’t do that. Emmett asking her out is a footnote at the very end. And this whole time, she is classy, and lady like, and has pride in herself and her work. She’ll go to a costume party as a playboy bunny, but like hell will she sleep with her professor for an internship. Elle is my feminist role model

ronstormer:

I remember listening to my DAD defend Legally Blonde. An uncle was saying “Oh look, it’s that stupid movie again.” as he flipped through the channels. My dad responded with “Oh yeah, that movie where the blonde girl with great grades works really hard to get into pre-law, studies hard and proves herself to her peers and bosses while maintaining her integrity and not sleeping with her boss? What a terrible message to send girls.”

Also, I love this movie because Reese Witherspoon.

teiledesganzen:

And don’t forget that she has serious female friends and wins the case by way of her specialist knowledge of so-called “feminine things” that no one else takes seriously enough to even bother with.

The movie also passes the Bechdel test.

bookshop:

LET’S NOT FORGET that even though it starts with a situation where two girls are rivals for the same guy, they BOTH choose to ignore the social codes (and hollywood bylaws) that tell them they should be cat-fighting and trying to one-up each other, and instead they realize that they make good working partners and better friends and screw rivalry, AND ALSO HAVE EACH OTHER’S BACKS RE: WORKPLACE SEXUAL HARASSMENT. And that it portrays sororities as places where women can learn to work together and respect each other and help each other out, which sets the stage for the way Elle treats everyone she meets for the rest of the movie. OH AND IT HAS A FAT SIDE CHARACTER WHO OVERCOMES EMOTIONAL ABUSE, IS NEVER FAT-SHAMED OR USED AS THE BRUNT OF A FAT JOKE, AND LANDS THE HOTTEST MAN IN THE ENTIRE FILM.

wildwildeyes:

Also, Elle still stays true to herself in a professional setting. Even when it’s tough for her, she always keeps being her bubbly, peppy self. She doesn’t let what others say about her stop her from being a kickass lawyer that also is unafraid to express herself how she wants to.

One of my law professors told us that Legally Blonde was his favourite film.
